Is it ok for straight girls to call each other "Wifey?"

The term "wifey" is slang terminology derived from the word "wife." It is usually used by guys to identify one's girlfriend by signifying her potential as a wife. Its also used to imply the presence of spousal attributes in a woman, and to identify having ownership of a woman.

Lately I've been hearing about straight girls calling each other "wifey." The straight girls who do this, claim they use the term, to identify them as best friends, so when they say "thats my wifey" they really mean that's my best friend. Call me old school, but I find it hard to believe that a girl calling another girl "wifey" in an ownership manner stands for just best friends. There's definitely something deeper behind it. My Co-Worker stated that his ex and her friends used to call each other "wifey" before playing with each others breasts and laughing. At first he thought it was fun, but after a while it got annoying. I guess that separates the girls from the women.

What if guys called each other "hubby?" Would people believe that those two guys are best friends? No. So what makes "wifey" OK? What ever happened to the significance of husband and wife? Its definitely lost its flare. Whats the point of "putting a ring on it," if she's already has a wife?

In April, Oprah hosted a show about women leaving men for women, and one can't help but think if straight girls are already calling each other "wifey" what else is next to come? According to Oprah, the underlying reason women were leaving men was because of men not being able to communicate emotionally. And it's quite true, as boys they are told not to cry, and to be a man and "walk it off." It easy to see why so many men are angry because they never had the chance to actually cry. Although not all men are like this, the majority are because they are trying to fit society's standards and definition of a "real man".

So the question is, are guys being used for their meats, and girls use one another for everything else?

Is anything original anymore???

Maybe I was born in the wrong generation. Nothing is original anymore. I've seen the 70's come back with bell bottoms and aviators. The 80's with the wild multi-colored hair, 3/4 sleeve jackets, tight pants, and bright spandex. The early 90's with the plaid shirts and vans. But I never thought I'd EVER see the day (at least in my lifetime) when the Mullet came back in style.

Yes people the Mullet is back! Its also know as "Business in the front, party in the back!" And from the looks of things (the goof on top) its being remixed. The movement went from Mohawks, got remixed to Faux Hawks, and now its hit a record low to Mullets...

It seems like every style that was once original, gets remixed, over-done and then eventually murdered by today's "trendsetters". Nothing is new anymore. The only thing original is technology. And since the iPhone innovated the touch screen phone market, everything else seems to follow.

We live in a copy n paste society. If Kanye wears it, millions of wannabes will follow. This was the same for the late great Michael Jackson. But the difference between MJ and Kanye is: originality. Many people could TRY to copy, but no one could ever do it like MJ. If it wasn't for Mike, there wouldn't be no Kanye. Ever since MJ's passing I have been endlessly enjoying his classics. They even seem more valuable because there is nothing that can ever compare to what he has done. Its hard to respect today's music, anyone can make a beat with a laptop, rhyme words on auto-tune and sell millions. There's no talent, no originality, just fuckery.

Michael Jackson dead at 50

June 25, 2009 is the day I started this blog account. Its also the day we lost our beloved Michael Jackson. Sure the media made a blitz about his "unorthodox ways" in the latter half of his career, but aside from that, The King of Pop's stardom can never be questioned.

Growing up, I was heavily influenced by MJ. Several vivid memories come to mind, one in particular is me playing "Billie Jean" and trying to moonwalk on my hardwood floors in my socks (for best the friction, well at least I thought so). Halloween isn't quite Halloween with out "Thriller". In fact it hasn't been the same since 1982. "Beat It", made me want to be a rock star when Eddie VanHalen ripped up that song with his heavy guitar riffs and the icing on the cake was the dancing in that video. Sick. Every piece of work, Michael put 110% into it. And you can tell by the quality of it. We will never see another hard worker with that quality of talent like MJ.

Last night, Bobby Digital and I were sitting in Union SQ park when we saw promoters from a strip club promoting their venue. There was a woman in a thong, on a pole, dancing on a mobile stage being moved by a man on a taxi-bicycle (I kid you not and I have a video of this). She was dancing to "Dirty Diana". All the New Yorkers took out their camera phones and watched this fiascal. One New Yorker exclaimed, "How could that h-e be dancing to Michael Jackson's s--t like that?" Once the circus act faded down Broadway, we literally turned our heads to the left towards the Union SQ markets are where a small crowd had gathered. A man an his Bose boom-box started it all by playing MJ's "Rock With You". A crowd of about a hundred or more New Yorkers began dancing and singing along to the hit record. Everyone was hugging and dancing with strangers. When the song finished I got chills as I screamed out to my fellow New Yorkers; "Only Michael Jackson could have all of us gathered together out here like this, singing and dancing to his music! Were all out here- Black, White, Asian, Spanish and others celebrating his life!" That fired the crowd up. Everyone cheered, high-fived, and hugged one another. One person began the chant of "King of Pop!" We chanted that for a few minutes. Then screamed out requests for the "DJ". The "DJ" then played "You Are Not Alone". The crowd began to hold each other as they mouthed the words to the song. (Many people didn't know the verses, just the chorus- but they tried.) The next song was "Thriller". We gathered in a soul train line and I went down first Mimicking the mummy moves MJ did in the video. After "Thriller", the "DJ" disappeared. You think the party stopped there? No! The crowd began to sing and dance A Capella to "Billie Jean". After a few other songs the ephemeral commotion began to die down and people started heading home. After all, it was only 11:45 on a Thursday night. And I was out like I didn't have to get up in the morning and come to work.

I will post the stripper video later...

Here's the video of us singing MJ's "Rock With You" in Union Sq last night...
